Day Seven and Eight Blog Questions

What were the different plans for reconstruction after the Civil War?

What are the factors that led the US into WWI? Even thought this war was fought in Europe, it placed a great burden on the US. Why? How? Who was the president that led the US through WWI?

  1. Abraham Lincoln originally wanted a plan that would would not punish the South, after he was assassinated Andrew Johnson favored a plan very similar to his. The Radical Republicans wanted the South to be punished severely.

On May 7, 1915, German U-Boats attacked a British passenger ship called the Lusitania, killing 1,200 people. 128 of these people were American. America was outraged. This whas the first time the United States faced trench warfare and chemical weapons. This was also the first war that airplanes were used in. Woodrow Wilson was the president at this time and the Country had great confidence in him.

  3. Abraham Lincoln wanted a plan that wouldn't punish the South. But later on he was assassinated, so Andrew Johnson wanted a plan, which was similar to Lincoln's. But the Radical Republicans wanted the South to be punished.

In May of 1915, German U-Boats attacked a British ship. There were 1,200 people that were killed, there were 128 Americans. This made America furious. Which started the war. The president at the time was Woodrow Wilson. He helped the U.S. through this war.

  4. Abraham Lincoln had a plan. He wanted one that wouldn't punish the south. But the Republicans actually wanted to punish the south. After the plan was made, he was assassinated and the plan was no longer going to be used. Then Andrew Johnson thought about Lincoln's plan, and made one like it, and the Republicans disagreed.

The German's attacked the Bristish and killed many U.S citizens. America threatened Germany to go into war, but Germany didn't want to. But this just caused a war.

  5. Abraham Lincoln wanted to form a plan that allowed Southern states to form a new government and constitutions, as long as some supported the union. Lincoln was assassinated and Andrew Johnson took over creating his own re-construction plan very similar to Lincoln's. The factors that led the U.S into WWI were the German U-boats were sinking American ships. Another factor was the Zimmerman Telegram. That was the telegram that Germany sent to Mexico to convince them to start war against the U.S. We intercepted the telegram, and it gave the Americans a fighting spirit. At this time, Woodrow Wilson was the president that led the U.S threw WWI.

  7. Abraham Lincoln wanted some sort of plan to not punish Southerners, even though many other people wanted to punish them. After his assassination, Johnson still went with Lincoln's plan.

What led to WWI was that German's had attacked British people. US was a burden because Europeans owed them money. Woodrow Wilson was the president during the whole war.

  8. The plans for reconstruction were different because Abraham Lincoln did not want a plan that would punish the South. When Lincoln was assassinated, Andrew Johnson's plan was very similar to Lincoln's. But the Radical Republicans wanted the South to be punished severely.

WWI started because a German U-Boat attacked a British ship and killed 1,200. 128 of the victims killed were Americans. This outraged America and we then declared war on the Germans on July 28, 1914. Woodrow Wilson was president during this war.

  9. Lincoln wanted to bring the South back into the Union. He offered amnesty to those who fought with the confederacy. Also, his plan included helping those freed slaves to be feed and to earn an income. And the reconstruction included helping the South to rebuild from the damage caused by the war.

The factors that led the US into WWI were that the Germans attacked several American ships without provocation. Also, the Germans attempted to ally with Mexico in the hopes that Mexico would defeat the US. The War was very costly ($32 billion) with paying for troops to be overseas, food, fuel, etc. There also was not a lot of production after the war, the economy declined. It was President Woodrow Wilson who led the US through WWI.

  10. The different plans for reconstruction after the Civil War was that Lincoln wanted to change the civil right of black citizens. He also wanted to make sure that the treatment of ex-confederate soldiers was fair. He also had goals of the readmission of former confederate states. Lincoln did not want to punish the south.

Germany's unrestricted submarine warfare and the sinking of five U.S. ships led the U.S. to declare war. The great burden on the U.S. was trench warfare and chemical weapons. This was the first time the country was involved with this type of warfare. The president that led the U.S. through the war was President Wilson.
